Why your dog's gut is the secret to... well, everything.

Honestly, as a dog parent, you spend a lot of time thinking about what goes in and what comes out. But we don't talk enough about what's happening in the middle.

I was thinking about this today while feeding Ares and Pablo. Most people think "gut health" just means "firm poop." And yeah, that’s a win. But the gut is actually the command center for your dog’s entire body.

It's about more than just digestion

About 70-80% of your dog's immune system lives in their gut. If the bacteria in there is out of whack (what we call dysbiosis), you’re going to start seeing it show up in ways you might not expect:

Itchy skin and "yeasty" ears (A huge one we see at Paw Power Nutrition)

Low energy or "brain fog" during training

Seasonal allergies that seem to never go away

How to fix it (Without making it complicated)

You don’t need a science degree to help your dog. It’s about adding "living" foods back into their bowl. Think of it like a defense team for their stomach.

I’m a huge fan of rotating in probiotics and prebiotic fibers (like mushrooms or even just steamed broccoli). It mimics what they’d find in the wild and keeps that immune system firing.

When the gut is right, everything else—their coat, their mood, their energy—just falls into place.

What are you seeing in your dog’s bowl lately? Any weird allergies or "room-clearing" gas? Let's fix the gut first.
